Would you know how to help your pet in a first aid emergency?

RSPCA Victoria is offering its popular animal first aid course, Focused First Aid for Pets free of charge to community members based in bushfire affected or prone areas in Victoria.

This initiative will be funded by funds raised during the RSPCA Victoria bushfire appeal.

About this course:

Many pet owners would panic if their pet was involved in an accident, however, learning basic first aid skills for pets can mean the difference between life and death.

Focused First Aid for Pets is a 1 hour 30-minute webinar focused on providing participants with the best information available to be better placed to help a pet in the case of an emergency situation.

Topics covered will include;

  • How to prepare their pets for evacuation in the event of an emergency (such as a bushfire)
  • How to care for animals with burns and heat exhaustion
  • CPR, bandaging, injuries sustained by cars and how to monitor vital signs
  • How to pick up on the warning signs of heat stress and how to avoid it
  • What to do if a pet is bitten by a snake and how to manage insect bites

Your will receive downloadable resources to take away with you for reference.

Don’t miss this opportunity to be prepared for that one day we hope won't happen but all too commonly will!

07 December 2020 • Pet First Aid

Firstly I'd like to thank the We Teach Me Team and RSPCA Vic, for holding the Pet First Aid zoom meeting. It was the first time that I'd received information online via the internet. It was so straight forward to download the app from the link provided and to open on the day of the meeting. I found the information fantastic with a lot of relevant general topics pertaining to our own animals/pets and wildlife. As a person that regularly checks on injured roadside animals, l found the immediate first aid directions essential and also what items to have in a first aid kit very helpful. I really appreciated how simply everything was explained and l know that l will be using this information in the future and be better equipped for my pets and wildlife before taking to the Vets or wildlife rescues. Looking forward to the next class. With thanks Tara Patullo
