Thank-you for your feedback. I thought it may be helpful to outline the activities we did on Tricks for Treats Day in September.
- We had an RSPCA dog trainer talk to us about positive training techniques with the assistance of Lexi the Labrador.
- We met Mikey the goat and learned about his mat training and its purpose. We each had the chance to help him practise.
- We learned about target training and implimented this with the ponies and chickens. Students helped them practise and fed the chickens too.
- We visited the dogs, cats and rabbits in the adoption centre.
- We learned about dog behaviour with our Animal Behaviour Consultant and pratised clicker training.
Some children find it disapointing that we are not touching all of the animals. It is important to us that animals have choice in all interations and that they have positive experienes when participating in education programs.
